Don’t Promise Love

Don’t promise love. Because when you can’t keep that promise, people don’t doubt you… they’ll doubt love.

Empty promises can be worse than lies. Because you don’t just make people believe, you make them hope.

Don’t promise someone a future when you can’t visualize and deeply see it together with them. And don’t promise someone a life if you’re not even sure what you want to do with yours.

It’s so important that we find ourselves before we promise anything to anyone else. It’s so important that we let things naturally evolve before we make these big promises and commitments.

So often we rush into big responsibilities based on little moments. We end up making permanent decisions based on temporary emotions. And we make huge plans with small amount of information.

And it’s not about the amount of time you spent with someone, it’s about the depth of the exchange.

People are always showing you who they truly are. Not just by how they treat you, but by how they treat others around you.

It’s so important to be observant and aware when you’re out with someone as to how they communicate, the language they use, the responses they have to other people around them.

When someone shows you their true colors, believe them. Don’t try to repaint them.

It’s not that you can’t have strong feelings for someone quickly, but often those early strong feelings are based on lust, infatuation and attraction. And therefore, when it comes to promising love or knowing you love someone, you have to give yourself time to see if that feeling lasts before you promise or say anything.

And for those of you that have been promised something, and that person didn’t live up to it, let them prove it to you through their actions, not their words.

Don’t just trust what they say, trust what they show you.

It’s so easy to get carried away when someone tells you they love you or when someone tells you they want to spend the rest of their life with you, but really reflect on are they showing you that.

And at the same time, give yourself time to feel that and believe that from them. Don’t just take it because they said it.

Don’t talk, just act. Don’t say, just show. Don’t promise, just prove.

Don’t promise anything. Just prove it day by day.
